NUTCRACKER STORY TIME AND CRAFT

For Ages 3-10 with an Adult

A few friends from the Rochester City Ballet will appear in full costume to read the magical tale of Clara and her Nutcracker, act/dance out some of their roles, and will be available for questions and photos after the story. Then join us for a fun craft to go along with the Nutcracker theme! Registration opens Saturday, October 29

ROBOTS GALORE

Saturday, November 12, 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm

For grades K-5

Join the Penfield High School Robotics Team to see a real robot and have a chance to play with some Ozobot robots too.

Registration required and opens October 29.

CHESS CLUB WITH THE ROCHESTER CHESS CENTER

Mondays, November 14 and 28, 4:30pm to 5:30 pm

For ages 8-14.

All levels welcome! Join an expert to learn strategies and tips while playing against other players. Registration required.

Do you love to read? Here’s your chance to read and talk about a book with other kids. Fun activities too! This month’s selection will be Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library by Chris Grabenstein. Copies will be available to pick up at the library.

GIVING THANKS FOR BOOKS- BOOK SWAP

For preschool through grade 5 with parents/caregivers

Spruce up your bookshelf with some new-to-you titles for free! Just bring in books you don’t want anymore and trade them for ones you do. The more you bring, the more you can take!

All parents are encouraged to attend our monthly PTA meetings to share thoughts on important issues, ask questions, and find out about opportunities offered by Scribner and Penfield Schools.

Mr. Hirschler, teacher representatives, Board of Education members, and PTA committee members are present at these meetings. At this time, all meetings are conducted over Zoom. The schedule for our meetings this year is below – we hope to see you there!

In October, the Environmental Club learned about composting. We started our meeting with a snack and a video about composting. We gathered leaves outside to make leaf rubbings. Then we used our leaves, dirt, and a pumpkin to make our own compost experiment based on the book, Pumpkin Jack. We have been watching it change every day. It was a fun meeting and it was also fun to meet new friends! -By: Victor Reyes
